About the role

The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in facilitating patient entry into Mercy facilities, handling tasks such as scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate all components of patient entrance into Mercy facilities
• Schedule and register patients
• Verify patient insurance and benefits
• Pre-certify services and ensure financial clearance
• Collect pre-visit payments
• Ensure accurate patient data is entered into the patient record
• Maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and regulatory requirements
• Act as a mentor to other Patient Access Representatives

Requirements

• Proficient in level 2 skills/requirements
• High-school diploma or equivalent
• Preceptor training required
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
• Knowledgeable with various computer systems and 10-key calculator
• Prolonged standing and walking during shifts
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs., reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting
