About the role
The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in facilitating patient entry into Mercy facilities, handling tasks such as scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate all components of patient entrance into Mercy facilities
- Schedule and register patients
- Verify patient insurance and benefits
- Pre-certify services and ensure financial clearance
- Collect pre-visit payments
- Ensure accurate patient data is entered into the patient record
- Maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Act as a mentor to other Patient Access Representatives
Requirements
- Proficient in level 2 skills/requirements
- High-school diploma or equivalent
- Preceptor training required
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
- Knowledgeable with various computer systems and 10-key calculator
- Prolonged standing and walking during shifts
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs., reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting
