About the role
We're seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Service Representative. Your role will be to greet patients and guests courteously, initiate scheduling, and ensure smooth patient registration and admission processes. You'll also handle financial transactions and provide excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
- Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information accurately.
- Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
- Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
- Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
- Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships and conflict resolution.
- Adapt to different patient populations and maintain a professional demeanor.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a customer service role.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Clerical skills and knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits and payor guidelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and software specific to the role.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to solve practical problems under pressure.
- Excellent decision-making and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws relevant to healthcare.
