About the role
We're looking for a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team at the Ochsner Home Infusion Center in Lafayette. You'll greet patients and guests courteously, initiate scheduling, and ensure accurate patient information is maintained.
Responsibilities
- Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
- Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information.
- Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
- Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
- Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
- Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships, and resolve conflicts.
- Adapt to different patient populations and maintain professional communication.
Requirements
- One year of related hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, front line registration, financial counseling, banking, hotel retail and/or customer service related experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s Degree preferred.
Qualifications
- Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to role.
- Clerical skills and knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits, referral and authorization processes.
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle high-stress situations professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with other departments.
- Excellent decision-making skills and attention to detail.
