PeaceHealth is seeking a Patient Access Representative for the Infusion Center in a Part Time, 0.80 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this role is $23.16 – $31.26 per hour, with the hiring rate dependent on factors such as education, training, work experience, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
About the Role
Assists in coordinating activities between scheduling, insurance verification, and pre-certification. Acts as a clinical liaison with physician practices for pre-visit services.
Responsibilities
- Pre-registers/registers patients with accurate demographic and financial data, using methods that may include mobile cart registration.
- Collects patient balances, co-payments, co-insurance, or other payments.
- Verifies insurance coverage, ensures all requirements are met, and obtains prior authorizations or referrals as needed before patient arrival.
- Responds to customer inquiries and assists with departmental coverage as needed.
- Manages daily appointment schedules, including reminder calls and processing referrals.
- May transport patients using escort or wheeled transport equipment.
- Performs other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred).
- Minimum of 1 year of medical office or related customer service experience (Required).
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook (Preferred).
Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding (Preferred).
- Knowledge of insurance processes and regulations (Preferred).
- Ability to manage conflict effectively and professionally (Required).
- Excellent time management skills, with an emphasis on meeting time-sensitive deadlines (Required).
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills (Required).
Department-Specific Notes
For Care Delivery Area and Outpatient Clinics: A strong background in customer service may be considered in lieu of medical office experience.
Working Conditions
- Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
- Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Sedentary work, predominantly in an office environment.
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
- Requires close visual acuity for activities such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
