About the role
We're seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Service Representative. Your role will be to greet patients and guests courteously, initiate scheduling, and ensure smooth check-in processes. You'll also handle financial transactions and provide clear explanations of insurance benefits.
Responsibilities
- Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
- Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information accurately.
- Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
- Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
- Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
- Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships and resolve conflicts professionally.
- Adapt to different patient populations and maintain a professional demeanor.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a front-line registration or revenue cycle role.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with an associate’s degree being highly beneficial.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and software relevant to the role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle high-stress situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and adapt to various patient needs.
Qualifications
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and information retrieval.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits, referral and authorization processes, and familiarity with Federal, State, and Local billing regulations.
- Experience with electronic verification and telephone verification of insurance.
Skills
