About the role

The Patient Access Clerk is responsible for performing diversified receptionist duties, coordinates all phases of patient visits and assures proper documentation of records in an effort to achieve the goal of providing optimal care.

Responsibilities

• Collects all demographic/financial information from the patient or insured for registration
• Interacts with the public in a positive manner, thus enhancing the hospital image
• Adjusts work assignments based on daily scheduled appointments and priority needs of the patient, medical director, or director
• Functions within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization
• Documents total care given, reviews and maintains patient chart per policy
• Assists with accurate timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into computer system

Qualifications

• Ability to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors
• Direct patient contact experience required
