About the role

We're looking for a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Service Representative. Your role will be to greet patients and guests courteously, initiate scheduling, and ensure accurate patient information is maintained. You'll also handle financial transactions and provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
  • Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information.
  • Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
  • Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
  • Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
  • Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships and resolve conflicts.
  • Adapt to different patient populations and maintain a professional demeanor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and healthcare-specific software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to solve practical problems under pressure.
  • Excellent decision-making and analytical skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.

Qualifications

  • Preferred certifications: CHAM, CHAA, Medical Assistant.
  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits and payer guidelines.
  • Current knowledge of Federal, State, and Local billing regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
