Patient Access Rep Clinic

About the Role

Franciscan Medical Group, part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, is seeking a full-time Patient Access Representative for the fast-paced Franciscan Nephrology Associates Clinic in Tacoma, WA. This role involves managing administrative duties for the patient intake process, ensuring a seamless and high-quality experience. The team is supportive with excellent growth opportunities, and the position offers free parking with no nights, weekends, or organizationally recognized holidays required.

Responsibilities

• Register and/or check patients in and out.
• Perform patient check-in at the time of visit; record and verify all demographic, insurance, and other information (e.g., Workers’ Comp, third-party liability).
• Follow established procedures to ensure registration guidelines are met, including notifying guardians of minors; identify deficiencies and resolve non-complex issues or escalate as needed.
• Conduct routine insurance eligibility verifications.
• Copy/scan patient access-related hardcopy materials (e.g., ID, referrals, insurance cards) into the correct location in the electronic medical record.
• Record non-clinical charges from various sources, such as fees for forms, depositions, attorney fees, or retail fees.
• Handle and reconcile payments.
• Interact with patients in person and by phone to facilitate check-in/out, collect data and payments, validate insurance, schedule appointments, and process referrals and authorizations.

Requirements

• One year of customer service work experience (required).
• Two years of customer service work experience (preferred).
• Healthcare or call center experience (preferred).
• Demonstrated critical thinking, strong customer service skills, and knowledge of insurance, billing, and medical terminology.

Pay

$23.90 - $34.79 per hour.
