About the role
The Patient Access Representative facilitates all components of the patient's entrance into any Mercy facility, including scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and register patients
- Verify patient benefits and pre-certify services
- Ensure accurate patient data is entered into the patient record
- Work with insurance carriers and Medicare guidelines
- Maintain positive relationships with patients, physicians, and hospital staff
- Handle various tasks with attention to detail and accuracy
- Use computers and calculators to perform daily duties
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending
Requirements
- 1-3 years clerical and customer service experience
- High school diploma
- Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred
- Some college education helpful
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and telephone etiquette
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
- Knowledgeable with various computer systems
- Ability to use a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard

Schedule
Full-Time (40-hrs per week) or Part-Time (24-hrs per week)
