Patient Access Rep

About the role

We're looking for someone who can greet patients and guests courteously, handle scheduling and admissions, and manage financial transactions. You'll be working in a fast-paced environment where every interaction counts.

Responsibilities

• Create and activate patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission processes
• Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information accurately
• Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibilities
• Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process
• Provide excellent customer service to all patients, guests, and family members
• Adapt behavior to different patient populations and maintain a professional demeanor
• Exercise sound judgment in handling difficult situations and escalating issues as needed

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting
• Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM), Certification in Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), or Certification as a Medical Assistant (or other medical specialty-based certification) preferred
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Windows-style applications and healthcare-specific software
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
• Good organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills
• Excellent decision-making and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate’s degree preferred

Skills

• Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with high-stress situations professionally
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits and payer guidelines
• Current knowledge of Federal, State, and Local billing regulations
