About the Role
The Patient Access Registrar serves as the Hospital’s primary entry point, responsible for gathering patient information, admitting or pre-admitting patients, and ensuring a positive experience for patients and their families. This role requires interacting with patients across all age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric, and demonstrating appropriate skills to meet their needs.
Responsibilities
- Accurately admit, register, or pre-admit patients.
- Pre-certify all applicable admissions or pre-admissions.
- Obtain signatures on admissions forms when appropriate.
- Verify and enter patient benefits and eligibility into the Hospital’s Information System.
- Estimate and collect co-pays and deductibles owed to the hospital.
- Identify and refer patients to the financial assistance department.
- Perform insurance verification functions as needed.
- Complete data entry tasks for new and established patients.
- Complete Medicare Secondary Payer information.
- Adhere to department policies and procedures.
- Complete financial counseling responsibilities and admissions paperwork accurately.
- Provide verbal directions to patients and family members as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
