A Day in the Life of a Patient Access - Lab Scheduling (PAS)

In the role of Patient Access Specialist for Scheduling in our Lab, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Precise scheduling of patient appointments, considering provider preferences and appointment specifics
  • Meticulous entry and updating of electronic medical records including patient details and insurance information, ensuring high accuracy
  • Managing incoming calls and coordinating closely with clinical teams to assure a seamless flow of information and continuation of patient care
  • Anticipating and resolving scheduling conflicts and facilitating patient care continuity
  • Handling stressful situations adeptly, with a mix of independent work and collaborative interactions with healthcare teams

At the Laboratory of Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, we deliver accurate, timely, and vital diagnostic testing that empowers providers, specialists, and care teams to make informed treatment decisions for their patients. Whether analyzing blood samples, detecting infections, or identifying complex medical conditions, our lab professionals are integral to every department of the hospital and clinic.

  • Supporting trauma cases, ICU patients, and complex disease management with rapid and specialized testing that ensures providers have the critical information they need when every second matters
  • From blood banking for transfusions to advanced molecular diagnostics, our team is vital to hospital operations, patient safety, and treatment outcomes

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required: N/A

Preferred: Completion of Health Care Administrative Specialist or similar program or comparable experience in a health care facility

High School Diploma or equivalent
