About the role

The Patient Access Coordinator plays an essential part in the patient's pre-visit experience. This role focuses on collecting accurate patient information, coordinating patient encounters, and providing patient support services to ensure each patient and family encounter is positive, professional, and efficient. The Patient Access Coordinator I supports these foundational duties by delivering excellent customer service, meeting productivity and quality standards, and complying with standard work while demonstrating values-based behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and schedule appointments in Cadence and/or OpTime.
  • Coordinate care with other services to minimize access delays.
  • Process incoming referrals.
  • Triage patient telephone calls to appropriate resources.
  • Send MyChart invitations.
  • Collect and/or update demographic and financial information for optimal reimbursement.
  • Check in patients and collect copays and outstanding balances.
  • Inform patients and collect signed consent for care.
  • Maintain standards for infection prevention.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives and hospital goal work.
  • Effectively communicate with patients and families.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years customer service and/or administrative support experience, and/or healthcare experience with/without scheduling and registration experience.
  • Must complete Epic Training and obtain a passing score on EUPA test within two (2) weeks of start date.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Associate’s Degree or at least two (2) years of college coursework in healthcare or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience working in a healthcare setting or related field.
  • Significant experience working with the general public in a healthcare/customer service environment.
  • Familiarity with other cultures/bilingual skills.

Pay

Compensation range: $23.15 - $34.73 per hour. This range is based on full-time employment (2,080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
