Patient Access Coordinator 1
About the Role
The Patient Access Coordinator I provides front desk support by greeting patients, managing check-in/check-out procedures, and entering information into the EMR. This role also handles payments, acts as a patient advocate and company representative, and supports office staff with flexibility and cooperation.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients at check-in and check-out, enter demographic information, and scan data into the EMR.
- Obtain patient copays and other payments, posting them as needed.
- Maintain efficient and accurate multi-communication within the office.
- Serve as a patient advocate and company representative.
- Remain a flexible, cooperative, and supportive member of the office staff.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a medical or office setting.
Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Customer service-oriented approach.
Work Environment
This role operates in a professional medical office environment using standard office equipment. The position involves frequent mobility and/or sitting for extended periods, with some bending, lifting, and stooping. Full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination are required. Normal color perception and corrected visual activity are necessary, along with manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, and photocopier. Interaction with coworkers, management, physicians, staff, hospital personnel, and patients is routine. Occasional high-stress situations may arise when dealing with angry or demanding patients and/or personnel.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with an 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday. No weekends are required.
