Patient Access Clerk 330 PM to 1200 AM
About the Role
The Patient Access Clerk arranges for the efficient and orderly admissions of all patients while ensuring that patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. They interview incoming patients or representatives, enter admission information into a computer database, and distribute appropriate information to ancillary departments.
Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide service appropriate to the age of patients served, including understanding principles of growth and development over the life span. Ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret information to identify each patient's age-specific needs, as outlined in unit policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Interview incoming patients or representatives to collect information required for admission.
- Enter patient information into the computer database accurately.
- Distribute necessary information to ancillary departments.
- Ensure patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
- Assess and interpret patient data to meet age-specific needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Medical terminology and billing experience preferred (hospital or physician office).
- Experience working with physician orders and order entry is a plus.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span.
