Pay

Expected pay for this position is $18.80 - $22.12/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills, and internal equity.

About the role

The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, including patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor, and registration precision. The role involves clearly communicating services, financial responsibilities, and expectations to patients and families, both in person and over the phone. Excellent patient service skills are required to create an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services. Strong deductive reasoning and logic skills are necessary to resolve complex, multi-payer situations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and complete patient medical records, including demographics, insurance, and guarantor information.
• Communicate services, financial responsibilities, and expectations to patients and families.
• Provide excellent customer service to create a positive first impression of OSF’s services.
• Resolve complex issues in multi-payer situations using deductive reasoning and logic.
• Complete all role-specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
• Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation.
• Problem-solving, conflict management, time management, and strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three years of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
• Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.
• Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
