Patient Access Ambassador II (Per Diem, Evening)

About the role

The Patient Access Ambassador II role at NorthBay Health involves accurately, efficiently, and timely admitting, registering, and completing financial analysis activities for all patients upon arrival to the hospital. This includes interacting respectfully with patients and/or their representatives to obtain and record accurate and complete demographic, payer, and other information, resolving patient issues, and collecting patient deposits, co-payments, deductibles, and share of cost.

Responsibilities

• Accurately admit and register patients upon arrival to the hospital.
• Interact respectfully with patients and/or patient’s representatives to obtain and record accurate and complete demographic, payer, and other information.
• Resolve patient issues to the best of your ability and refer patients to other members of the Patient Access or Financial Counseling team as needed.
• Collect patient deposits, co-payments, deductibles, and share of cost at the time of registration/scheduling or whenever appropriate.
• Explain financial obligations in a clear and compassionate manner.
• Conduct educational conversations with patients explaining the details of their coverage eligibility and benefits, including coordination of benefits, required authorizations, estimated charges, outstanding deductibles, and other out-of-pocket obligations.
• Maintain and promote a professional and empathetic attitude, demonstrating courteous actions, maintaining confidentiality, and presenting oneself professionally.

Requirements

• Average of three (3) years of customer engagement experience in a healthcare revenue cycle environment.
• A minimum of an Associate Degree.
• A Patient Access and/or Revenue Cycle relevant certification from a nationally recognized healthcare credentialing organization preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to articulate thoughts effectively.
• Proficiency in differentiating the unique characteristics of various insurance types and understanding their impact on claims processing and patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Patient Access and/or Revenue Cycle relevant certification from a nationally recognized healthcare credentialing organization preferred.

Pay

NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1–5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.

Schedule

Total Hours: At least four (4) shifts each month, or more as determined by the department's per diem availability standard and process. Shift: 8-hour shifts. 10% per diem differential included in salary range.
