About the role

As the first “face” of LifeCare Medical Center, the Patient Access Representative greets patients and visitors, registers and schedules all types of patients (inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department), and ensures accurate patient identity while verifying demographic and insurance information.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and guide patients and visitors to their destinations with a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Register patients with correct identity and accurate information within the electronic record system (Epic).
  • Verify insurance coverage and schedule appointments.
  • Check in appointments and obtain patient consent for treatment.
  • Scan consent forms, EKGs, and other documents into Epic as requested.
  • Complete missing account information through assigned work queues.
  • Work closely with other departments (ED Nursing, Lab, Imaging) to ensure patients receive services.
  • Monitor patient and visitor access through the Emergency Department entrance during the night (11pm-7am shift).
  • Clean Admitting work area and adjacent public areas when needed.

Requirements

  • Education in the medical field, medical office assistant certification, or medical terminology experience.
  • Experience in a patient access role preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.

Schedule

Primarily day shift with evening and overnight coverage as needed. Monday through Friday with rotating weekend and holiday coverage. 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE).

Pay

Pay range: $19.25–$25.02 per hour, plus evening and weekend differentials. Compensation decisions depend on relevant work experience, education, certification, licensure, and internal equity.
