Pathology Physician
About the role
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Davis is seeking a dynamic faculty member to serve as a Molecular Pathologist at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank, in the Clinical (X) or Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) series. Formal director-level leadership opportunities may be available for well-qualified candidates in this area.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic vision and collaborative implementation to enhance the department’s Molecular Pathology Division and laboratory testing.
- Supervise molecular laboratory operations.
- Participate in test reporting and new test development.
- Contribute to quality assurance and accreditation activities.
- Engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service.
- Collaborate with the department Chair and other department section leaders.
- Teach housestaff and medical students.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary conferences and curriculum development in subspecialty areas.
Requirements
- A California professional license or eligibility for licensure in California is required.
- Candidates must have an MD, DO, PhD, or combined MD/PhD or DO/PhD.
- Candidates with MD or DO degrees must be board-eligible or certified in Clinical Pathology and Molecular Pathology (or comparable board).
- All candidates must be US Citizens, permanent residents, or hold an employment visa.
- Experience in a clinical or academic setting that includes clinical care, teaching, and research that would meet requirements for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in one of the University of California’s clinically intensive academic series Clinical (X) or HSCP series.
- The ability to maintain a high-level of service, work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment, exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain excellent relationships with medical and technical staff, trainees, and others is required.
Qualifications
- An MD, DO, PhD, or combined MD/PhD or DO/PhD.
- Board-eligible or certified in Clinical Pathology and Molecular Pathology (or comparable board).
- US Citizenship, permanent residency, or employment visa.
- Experience in a clinical or academic setting.

Benefits
The salary range for this position is $210,000 - $409,700. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
