The CLIA Laboratory Medical Director provides clinical, scientific, regulatory, and quality oversight for the organization's high-complexity core clinical laboratory, ensuring compliance with CLIA and other applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements. This role provides medical consultation to clinicians, oversees the quality, accuracy, and appropriateness of laboratory testing, and leads quality management and continuous improvement initiatives that promote patient safety and high-quality laboratory services.

In partnership with laboratory operations leadership, the Medical Director evaluates new technologies, supports operational excellence, and serves as the laboratory representative on The Vancouver Clinic's Quality Committee, collaborating to advance clinical excellence, patient safety, care experience, timeliness, affordability, and overall quality of care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical, scientific, regulatory, and quality oversight for the high-complexity core clinical laboratory
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA and other applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements
  • Offer medical consultation to clinicians
  • Oversee the quality, accuracy, and appropriateness of laboratory testing
  • Lead quality management and continuous improvement initiatives to promote patient safety and high-quality laboratory services
  • Evaluate new technologies and support operational excellence in partnership with laboratory operations leadership
  • Serve as the laboratory representative on The Vancouver Clinic's Quality Committee
  • Collaborate to advance clinical excellence, patient safety, care experience, timeliness, affordability, and overall quality of care

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Board Certification in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology
  • Unrestricted Washington State Medical License (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience supervising high-complexity testing in an inpatient and/or outpatient laboratory setting

Pay

$199.00 per hour

Eligibility for benefits begins on the first of the month following one month of employment. Compensation packages and time off programs vary based on factors such as department, position type, primary work state, and FTE.
