Per Diem - Pathologists' Assistant

Job Summary

Ensure efficient lab functionality, compliance with safety standards, and preparation of instructional materials for Histology and Pathology Assistant programs.

Essential Functions

• Monitor inventory levels and order laboratory supplies as needed to maintain the lab
• Perform routine post-laboratory cleaning and maintenance, including waste removal, surface disinfection, instrument and tray cleaning, and floor care
• Maintain and monitor laboratory tracking devices and equipment functionality
• Handle and dispose of biohazardous materials in accordance with established safety protocols, including packaging and preparing red biohazard waste for collection
• Conduct weekly inspections of the eyewash stations to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety standards
• Prepare specimens for Pathology laboratory instruction, including cutting, cleaning, and treatment of specimens
• Support laboratory sessions by ensuring all materials and specimens are properly prepared and available for instructional use

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 1 year of experience

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time per diem position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
