About the role

We are seeking a seasoned patent prosecution attorney to join a highly collaborative, tech-forward intellectual property practice. This role is ideal for an attorney who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, values autonomy, and is excited to contribute to a lean, modern platform built around efficiency, technical sophistication, and deep client engagement.

This group was built from the ground up by attorneys who previously spent their careers in major law firms, in-house departments, research organizations, and innovation-driven institutions. The practice operates in a fully virtual model that has been in place for more than a decade — well before remote work became a legal industry trend. That structure allows attorneys to serve clients wherever they are, maintain flexible schedules, and eliminate the layers, overhead, and bureaucracy often associated with traditional firms.

The firm's philosophy is simple: senior practitioners handle the work, relationships are personal and long-term, and client strategy is informed by a practical understanding of both technology and business. Rather than relying on junior-heavy leverage models, matters are led by experienced attorneys who provide tailored guidance, clear communication, and highly sophisticated work product. The result is a streamlined practice that offers top-tier IP counsel with exceptional value and responsiveness.

Why join us?

  • Long-established virtual model designed for lifestyle flexibility and operational efficiency
  • Direct access to experienced peers without unnecessary hierarchy or administrative layers
  • Competitive rates that attract clients seeking top-tier talent without BigLaw overhead
  • A culture rooted in technical fluency, strategic insight, and genuine collaboration
  • A structure tailored for attorneys who value independence paired with a cohesive, senior-level team

Responsibilities

  • Lead patent preparation and prosecution matters across a range of technologies with full autonomy
  • Advise clients on portfolio development, competitive positioning, and long-term IP strategy
  • Manage relationships with innovative companies, founders, and R&D teams
  • Collaborate with a close-knit team of senior attorneys who prioritize practicality, creativity, and strategic thinking
  • Operate within a fully remote infrastructure that leverages cloud-based systems for efficiency and mobility
  • Support and expand an existing client base, contributing to the continued growth of the practice

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of patent prosecution experience
  • A portable book of business appropriate for a partner-level role (at least $300k worth of business)
  • USPTO registration and a technical background suitable for handling sophisticated patent portfolios
  • A track record of drafting, prosecuting, and managing high-quality patent applications
  • The ability to integrate smoothly into a virtual practice built around senior-level execution and direct client service
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, strong communication skills, and a commitment to client-focused problem solving

Pay

$250,000 - $350,000 per year
