About the role
The role is open for an experienced patent agent to join Koch’s integrated intellectual property team. The position can be based in Wichita, KS; Atlanta, GA; or Lisle, IL.
Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to understand innovations and business objectives
- Develop, shape, and manage global patent portfolios, including overseeing outside counsel in the preparation of patent applications and efficiently managing a global patent docket
- Aid in competitive patent searches and risks assessments
- Support in-house counsel with patent enforcement, dispute resolution, and M&A due diligence
- Advance the IP team’s transformation through the execution of initiatives that optimize processes and advance the adoption of AI
Requirements
- Registration to practice before the USPTO
- Undergraduate degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science/engineering, metallurgical science/engineering, polymer science/engineering, or related field
- At least three years of patent drafting and prosecution experience in a law firm or corporate environment
- Proficiency with IP management systems and searching tools, such as Anaqua and Acclaim IP
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an in-house patent practitioner
- Demonstrated experience developing and using AI tools for improving patent prosecution
Skills
- Business-oriented approach to patent portfolio development
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with patent management systems and searching tools

$130,000 - $170,000 per year
