Pastry Cook (Resort, Full-Time)
Job Summary
The Pastry Cook is responsible for the daily preparation, organization, tasting, cleanliness, and creativity of all pastry and baked goods produced in the newly renovated kitchen at The Tides Inn. This role ensures superior quality, consistency, and presentation while supporting the mission and values of the Tides Inn.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Prepare pastry items daily based on anticipated business levels and event needs.
- Maintain the highest standards of freshness, quality, and visual appeal for all pastry items on your station.
- Assist the Pastry Chef and culinary team in maintaining daily production logs and waste tracking.
- Follow standardized recipes to ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation while maintaining proper portion control.
- Minimize waste and ensure proper product utilization in coordination with the Pastry Chef and Sous Chefs.
- Participate in tastings with the chef team for new dessert concepts, seasonal offerings, and menu development.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station, kitchen equipment, and surrounding work areas in accordance with sanitation standards.
- Collaborate with the farm team and visit the Tides Inn Farm on a weekly basis to stay informed of seasonal ingredients and incorporate them into pastry offerings.
- Support special projects, seasonal events, and custom dessert production as assigned.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.
- 2 years of experience in a pastry or baking role in a 4- to 5-star hotel, resort, restaurant, or bakery.
- Working knowledge of pastry techniques including baking, decorating, chocolate work, and plated desserts.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for recipes and measurements.
- Ability to work across multiple stations within the pastry department.
- Food handler certification required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Current, valid driver’s license required.
