Pastry Chef, St Mary Village
This is a full-time, seasonal role beginning August 2026. Staff accommodation available.
About the Role
Lead the daily production of fresh baked goods, pastries, and desserts for the dining room, café, and team dining areas. Develop seasonal features and dessert specials for the restaurant and lounge. Manage inventory and ingredient ordering in partnership with the Executive Chef and storekeeper. Create production schedules, prep lists, and par levels to ensure efficient operations. Schedule, train, and mentor the pastry team, fostering skill development and consistency.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily production of fresh baked goods, pastries, and desserts for the dining room, café, and team dining areas.
- Develop seasonal features and dessert specials for the restaurant and lounge.
- Manage inventory and ingredient ordering in partnership with the Executive Chef and storekeeper.
- Create production schedules, prep lists, and par levels to ensure efficient operations.
- Schedule, train, and mentor the pastry team, fostering skill development and consistency.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and sanitation.
- Monitor equipment and work areas, reporting safety or maintenance concerns as needed.
- Support special events, banquets, conferences, and catering functions.
- Deliver exceptional service by assisting guests and teammates whenever needed.
- Jump in where required and contribute to the success of the overall culinary team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional baking and pastry experience required.
- Patisserie, culinary training, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of food costing, inventory management, and kitchen controls.
- Passion for creating high-quality baked goods, pastries, and desserts.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Committed to safety, cleanliness, and food sanitation standards.
- Organized with excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
Pay
The starting wage for this role is $21.00 per hour.
