About the role
Join the Power Design SURGE Café team as a creative and passionate Pastry Chef, leading our bakery and pastry program at our corporate headquarters in St. Pete. Oversee the production of artisan breads, breakfast pastries, desserts, specialty cakes, and seasonal baked goods in a fast-paced environment. Bring fresh ideas to life and take pride in creating visually stunning, high-quality products that fuel the Power Design family every day.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily production of artisan breads, breakfast pastries, desserts, cakes, cookies, and specialty baked goods.
- Develop and maintain recipes that ensure consistency, quality, and exceptional presentation.
- Create seasonal desserts and specialty bakery items that bring creativity and excitement to the SURGE Café.
- Design, bake, assemble, and decorate custom cakes and desserts for company events and catering functions.
- Oversee dough production, fermentation, proofing, and baking processes to ensure premium products.
- Lead, train, mentor, and support a small team of bakers and pastry staff.
- Coordinate daily production schedules to meet café and catering demands.
- Partner with the Executive Chef and culinary team to develop new menu items and enhance the overall guest experience.
- Monitor inventory, order bakery ingredients and supplies, and minimize food waste while controlling costs.
- Maintain organized recipes, production schedules, and food safety documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all health, sanitation, and food safety standards.
- Assist with catering events and specialty dessert displays as needed.
- Handle other café and culinary responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of progressive pastry or bakery experience in a bakery, restaurant, hotel, catering, or production kitchen.
- Experience producing artisan breads, pastries, desserts, and specialty cakes.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring a bakery or pastry team.
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, fermentation, cake decorating, and pastry fundamentals.
- Creative mindset with a passion for developing new recipes and seasonal offerings.
- Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
- ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain one is preferred.
