Pastoral Bereavement Counselor - Hospice

Role Overview Provides spiritual care and support to hospice clients and families, aligning with their beliefs. Coordinates follow-up bereavement counseling for family members and significant others, ensuring emotional and spiritual needs are met. Responsibilities Include Conducting spiritual assessments and developing care plans with the interdisciplinary team.Reassessing spiritual needs related to faith, grief, prayer, and healing.Serving as a resource on spiritual matters, facilitating sacraments, and liaising with clergy as requested.Providing education on hospice philosophy, grief, funeral planning, and faith resources.Developing and delivering bereavement support, including individual, group, and family counseling, and coordinating memorial services and grief camps.Participating in training, quality improvement, and maintaining current knowledge of religious diversity and hospice developments.Facilitating teamwork, ensuring quality care, and educating staff, clergy, and community groups on spiritual concerns related to terminal illness and loss. Qualifications Master’s Degree in Theology, Counseling, Sociology, or related field.Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.Experience in spiritual care and hospice preferred.
