Working closely with family members and caregivers, we foster a collaborative environment to honor the needs and wishes of our patients and their loved ones.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange for or provide counseling to meet the spiritual needs of patients, families, and caregivers in a manner consistent with their beliefs and desires.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of the patient, family, and caregiver’s spiritual needs.
  • Complete bereavement risk assessments of the patient, family, and caregiver and determine bereavement needs.
  • Identify appropriate spiritual and bereavement interventions and goals for the patient’s care plan.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team (IDT) in the development of the patient care plan.
  • Ensure services provided are in accordance with the patient’s acceptance of these services and the patient’s care plan.

Requirements

  • Master of Divinity Degree from an accredited seminary; and ordination (if the particular religious group practices ordination) or licensure (if the religion practices licensure in lieu of ordination); and endorsed and in good standing from the ecclesiastical governing body.
  • OR Baccalaureate degree in social work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and supervised by an MSW.
  • OR Baccalaureate degree in psychology, sociology, counseling, or another field related to pastoral care, grief services, or counseling.
