Pastoral Bereavement Counselor - Hospice

Role Overview: Provides spiritual care and support to hospice clients and families, respecting their beliefs. Coordinates and delivers bereavement counseling and follow-up support to facilitate grief work and closure. Key Responsibilities Conducts spiritual assessments and develops individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.Offers ongoing reassessment of spiritual needs related to faith, grief, prayer, and healing.Serves as a resource on spiritual matters, facilitating sacramental arrangements and liaising with clergy as requested.Provides education on hospice philosophy, grief, and faith resources to clients and caregivers.Coordinates bereavement services, including individual, group, and family counseling, support groups, and memorial events.Supports volunteer training and supervision in bereavement activities.Participates in ongoing professional development, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure high-quality, culturally sensitive spiritual care. Qualifications & Skills Master’s Degree in Theology, Counseling, Sociology, or related field.Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.Experience in spiritual care, hospice, or bereavement support.Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, with ability to collaborate with clergy, staff, and families.Commitment to professional growth, diversity, and quality improvement initiatives.
