Pastor
About the Role
North Fork Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist congregation founded in 1983 and located between the rural communities of Riverton and Seneca Rocks, West Virginia, is prayerfully seeking a full-time pastor to serve as the spiritual leader of the congregation.
The pastor will be responsible to God and the church to faithfully proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, demonstrate a burden for the lost, and provide Christlike leadership, teaching, pastoral care, and equipping for this body of believers as they encourage one another and live on mission to reach their community with the good news of Christ.
Responsibilities
- Lead worship services on regular and special occasions.
- Provide primary leadership to the pulpit ministry.
- Work with the deacons and any church staff to help North Fork function as a New Testament church.
- Provide pastoral care and counseling to members and the community.
- Help the church fulfill its mission through evangelism, discipleship, and service.
- Preside over church meetings (as outlined in the by-laws).
- Serve as an ex-officio, non-voting member of all organizations, departments, and committees.

- Exhibit self-control, hospitality, and a gentle, non-quarrelsome spirit.
- Manage his household well.
- Be Baptist by faith and in agreement with the church’s statement of faith.
- Formal biblical or pastoral training from a seminary or Bible college is preferred.
- At least seven years of pastoral and counseling experience.
Church Statement of Faith
- We believe that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired, infallible inerrant Word of God.
- We believe in the Biblical account of a literal, six-day creation.
- We believe in the one Triune Godhead—God existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the substitutionary and redemptive sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sin of the world; that salvation is available to “whosoever will,” not just to a select few.
- We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God; but that in Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. Man is depraved and, of himself, unable to remedy his lost condition and is drawn by the means of the Holy Spirit to accept Christ as Savior by his/her own volitional will.
- We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and thus secure in Christ forever.
- We believe that Jesus Christ arose bodily from the dead, that He ascended into Heaven, and is now in His state of glorification as the great high priest, intercessor, and advocate for all believers.
- We believe that personal salvation from the eternal penalty of sin is provided solely by the sovereign grace of God on the basis of the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- We believe the Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, indwells, and seals all believers in Jesus Christ until the day of redemption.
- We believe in the existence of a personal spirit being called Satan, who is tempter and accuser, for whom the place of eternal punishment was prepared, where all who die outside of Christ shall be confined in conscious, bodily torment for eternity.
- We believe the Church is the body of Christ, composed of all born-again persons in the present age, with the primary mission to witness for the Lord Jesus Christ, equip the saints, and that the Church will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air prior to His return to set up His kingdom.
- We believe in the pre-tribulation future rapture of the Church, at which time the dead in Christ shall be resurrected, and we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air.
- We believe in the coming seven literal years of tribulation and the future, personal, visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ with His saints to the earth to judge and purge sin and establish His eternal kingdom and to consummate and fulfill all His purposes in the work of creation and redemption.
- We believe that the only legitimate marriage is the joining of one man and one woman.
- We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being, and that abortion is the wrongful taking of unborn human life.
