Party Chief Surveyor (Republic, WA)

About the role

The Party Chief is responsible for the overall management of the survey crew, working under the direction of the Project Manager and Construction Manager. This role serves as the client liaison, ensures the safety of the crew and equipment, manages computations, and maintains safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Actively support the Company’s commitment to safety and its Core Values.

• Perform various types of construction stakeout projects and topographic surveys.
• Conduct mathematical calculations for field-checking data.
• Take accurate and clear notes in the field.
• Read and understand engineering drawings.
• Understand basic sources of measurement errors and principles of monumentation, staking, and marking.
• Ensure the quality and performance of the survey crew.
• Maintain all Company equipment.
• Demonstrate self-motivation, organization, and good decision-making skills.
• Accurately complete time and expense reports.
• Submit data and notes daily.
• Meet with clients and public landowners professionally as required.
• Remain flexible and adaptable to change.
• Identify safety hazards and take corrective action to eliminate or minimize risks.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience working as a Party Chief Surveyor on a new construction site.
• 1+ year of supervisory experience.
• Proficient in managing crew, time, and costs.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Good understanding of Matrix Service policies and procedures.
• Ability to complete Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training, and Client/Site-specific training.
• Must maintain active status within the required drug testing program.
• Must pass a background check.

Physical Requirements

• Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
• Must be able to hear, speak, understand, and communicate effectively.
• Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
• May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
• Capable of working outside in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind) for long periods (up to 12 hours a day).
• Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.

Pay

Washington hiring range: $41.00 to $47.00 per hour. The pay rate depends on qualifications, prior experience, specific skill set, geographic location, and internal equity. Full range for this position, including available overtime: $41.00 - $47.00 per hour.
