About the Role

The Economics and Workforce Development Department is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach one or more hands-on, certification-prep courses in the following areas:

  • Networking: CCNA 1 Introduction to Networking, CCNA 2 Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials, CCNA 3 Enterprise Networking, Security and Automation
  • Security: Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate, Cybersecurity Foundation: CompTIA Security+ Certification
  • Development: AI Programming for Non-Programmers, Python, Front-end Developer I Foundation, Front-end Developer II Advanced, Front-end Developer III Professional, Mastering Problem Solving using AI, AWS Academy Cloud Foundations
  • Data Science: Data Analytics Foundation CompTIA Data+, Data Engineering using Python & AI, Data Visualization using PowerBI and Tableau
  • IT: IT Fundamentals CompTIA ITF+ Certification, PC/Network Technician

These courses prepare students for entry-level to intermediate roles in networking and cybersecurity. Classes may be taught at the Brighton and/or Downtown Campus, or via remote, hybrid, or online modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction and facilitate student learning in assigned course(s)
  • Design lesson plans and hands-on lab activities that align with course objectives and certification standards
  • Assess and evaluate student performance using a variety of instructional methods and assessment tools
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and course documentation
  • Provide timely feedback and mentorship to students
  • Support department efforts related to student retention and completion
  • Utilize MCC's learning management system (e.g., Brightspace/D2L) to enhance course delivery
  • Participate in curriculum development and assessment activities as needed
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development and industry engagement

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Relevant industry certifications in one or more of the following areas: Networking, IT Support, Security, Development, Data Science
  • At least 2 years of relevant industry experience in Data Science, Networking, cybersecurity, or IT operations
  • Demonstrated ability to teach technical subjects effectively to diverse learners
  • Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom and campus environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related discipline
  • Teaching experience at the college or technical training level
  • Proficiency in using LMS platforms (e.g., Brightspace/D2L, Blackboard, Canvas, or Moodle)
  • Experience designing and delivering technical training or curriculum
