Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for parts operations across multiple dealership locations
- Establish consistent procedures, reporting, and performance standards throughout the group
- Manage parts inventory, including stocking levels, turnover, aging, obsolescence, returns, and availability
- Maintain relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and vendors
- Produce and analyze distribution, inventory, sales, and profitability reports across all locations
- Lead the development and growth of the group's new parts distribution operation
- Create an organized outside sales strategy targeting independent repair shops and other commercial customers
- Identify new business opportunities and expand the group's wholesale customer base and market presence
- Develop pricing, delivery, customer service, and account-management processes for the distribution business
- Oversee accounts receivable associated with wholesale customers, including credit practices, collections, and past-due accounts
- Evaluate the group's five parts departments and storage locations to determine opportunities for centralization and improved efficiency
- Organize the commercial, operational, and logistical aspects of the distribution network
- Monitor departmental performance, sales, margins, expenses, and profitability
- Work closely with the Fixed Operations Director, Service Director, dealership leadership, and owner to support service operations and the group's overall growth strategy
- Serve as a knowledgeable advisor to ownership as the group develops its parts distribution and external sales capabilities
Qualifications
- Significant automotive parts leadership experience, preferably in a multi-store dealership group, wholesale parts operation, wholesale automotive aftermarket parts or automotive parts distribution business
- Candidates with leadership experience at organizations such as AutoZone, O'Reilly Auto Parts, or another large automotive parts retailer or distributor will also be considered
- Demonstrated knowledge of inventory management, turnover, aging, obsolescence, returns, purchasing, and supplier relations
- Experience building or managing wholesale, commercial, or outside parts sales programs
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable, customer credit, and collections
- Ability to develop processes and structure within a new or growing operation
- Proven ability to lead teams across multiple locations
