About the role

Butler Machinery is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Parts and Service Sales Representative to join our team in Bismarck, ND. In this role, you will promote and sell the value of our parts and service offerings while assisting sales representatives with customer presentations and account development. You will identify and secure new larger-scale customers within your assigned territory, maintain strong relationships with existing accounts, and ensure our large-scale customers receive exceptional service and support. This position involves regular communication with customers—both in person and over the phone—to understand their equipment needs and provide tailored parts and service solutions. Periodic travel within your territory will be required to visit customer sites, strengthen partnerships, and generate new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Establish customer relationships.
  • Assist sales representatives with customer presentations.
  • Communicate with the Aftermarket Sales Manager to relay parts and service opportunities as well as progress on tasks assigned.
  • Market and sell the value of CAT parts and service.
  • Find new markets, customers, and applications within the territory.
  • Perform equipment inspections to include certified used equipment, warranty inspections, certified truck service, and customer repair inspections.
  • Develop good knowledge of competitive products and suppliers.
  • Provide input on annual forecasts for territory potential.
  • Resolve customer issues.
  • Work with Customer Account Managers and Parts and Service Managers on goals and marketing ideas.
  • Maintain good customer records.
  • Work within and promote the vision, mission, and values of Butler Machinery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of service and parts experience are minimally required.
  • 1+ years of sales experience preferred.
  • Proven leadership ability.
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to think strategically, make decisions, develop relationships, handle conflict, negotiate, present ideas, use resources effectively, and display mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work extra hours at short notice.
  • Overnight travel as needed.
