About the role

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. The Financial Connections team sources, develops, and manages relationships with critical financial institutions, banking, and ecosystem partners. The Partner Development Manager will drive the open banking partnership strategy and execute partnerships with top financial institutions in support of Stripe's Financial Connections business.

Responsibilities

  • Own a partnership portfolio of top financial institutions and drive them through the full partnership lifecycle from initial outreach to scaled growth on Financial Connections
  • Leverage deep knowledge of the open banking ecosystem to guide internal cross-functional stakeholders (including product, risk, compliance, engineering, security) through an evolving business and regulatory landscape, implementing thoughtful partnership strategies that accelerate Stripe's connectivity across the financial ecosystem
  • Identify and effectively analyze new partnership opportunities, ultimately making recommendations to relevant decision makers and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Negotiate strategic partnership agreements with banks and credit unions, navigating complex legal, compliance, and technical requirements
  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships at key financial institutions, partnering with Stripe leadership on strategic long-term objectives
  • Exhibit an operationally focused mindset, with an ability to lead teams through complex relationship management activities by setting a clear vision, and running tight processes

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in partnerships, business development, corporate development or related field
  • Experience negotiating commercial deals with financial institutions, including bilateral data access or API agreements
  • Exceptionally strong communication skills, in both verbal and written form, and ability to influence stakeholders across a wide variety of functions, including at executive levels
  • Technical acumen, especially an ability to understand product strategy and use this understanding to define requirements for scaling products through partnerships
  • Experience developing partnership strategies and identifying, sourcing, and analyzing new partnership opportunities
  • Strong agency, can handle ambiguity in a fast-moving organization, and thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility
