About the role
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. The Financial Connections team sources, develops, and manages relationships with critical financial institutions, banking, and ecosystem partners.
Responsibilities
- Own a partnership portfolio of top financial institutions and drive them through the full partnership lifecycle from initial outreach to scaled growth on Financial Connections
- Leverage deep knowledge of the open banking ecosystem to guide internal cross-functional stakeholders (including product, risk, compliance, engineering, security) through an evolving business and regulatory landscape, implementing thoughtful partnership strategies that accelerate Stripe's connectivity across the financial ecosystem
- Identify and effectively analyze new partnership opportunities, ultimately making recommendations to relevant decision makers and cross-functional stakeholders
- Negotiate strategic partnership agreements with banks and credit unions, navigating complex legal, compliance, and technical requirements
- Develop and maintain executive-level relationships at key financial institutions, partnering with Stripe leadership on strategic long term objectives
- Exhibit an operationally focused mindset, with an ability to lead teams through complex relationship management activities by setting a clear vision, and running tight processes
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in partnerships, business development, corporate development or related field
- Experience negotiating commercial deals with financial institutions, including bilateral data access or API agreements
- Exceptionally strong communication skills, in both verbal and written form, and ability to influence stakeholders across a wide variety of functions, including at executive levels
- Technical acumen, especially an ability to understand product strategy and use this understanding to define requirements for scaling products through partnerships
- Experience developing partnership strategies and identifying, sourcing, and analyzing new partnership opportunities
- Strong agency, can handle ambiguity in a fast-moving organization, and thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility
