About the role

The Hudson Public Library has been serving the community since 1867, located at 3 Washington Street. They are currently seeking a Part-Time Youth Services Library Page.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with various aspects of the Youth Services Department, including public service operations, collection management, library programs, and community outreach.
  • Refer the general public to appropriate service desks or departments.
  • Affix with library technology and equipment (e.g., computers, printers, video game consoles, etc.).
  • Affix with reader’s advisory.
  • Affix with maintaining areas managed by the Youth Services Department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Progressive experience in a service-related field or volunteer work.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of the principles and practices of general library work, technology, and public service.
  • Ability: Exercise appropriate judgment and initiative to perform duties and support department operations.
  • Learn the classification system and organization for circulating library materials and collections.
  • Complete assignments independently and with accuracy.
  • Adhere to library procedures and policies.
  • Actively contribute to decision-making.
  • Interact effectively, tactfully, and courteously to maintain favorable public and staff relations.
  • Engage in professional development and keep current with library trends.
  • Adapt to evolving technologies and services.

Skills

  • Bilingual proficiency in Portuguese or Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Moving, carrying, and shelving library materials.
  • Using fine motor skills to operate computers and office equipment.
  • Lifting and moving items weighing up to 35 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Communicating effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Reading printed and digital materials and adjusting visual focus as needed.

Pay

$16.08 per hour

Schedule

Approximately 10 hours per week on average.

This is a part-time, non-union, non-benefited position.
