Part-Time Voter Registration Specialist I
Essential Functions
Coordinates and provides administrative/clerical support for elections and registration: processes a variety of documentation associated with elections operations within designated timeframes and per established procedures; works with and provides guidance and assistance to administrative/clerical staff assigned to divisions or work units within the department to ensure uniform and cooperative work efforts; and maintains confidentiality of departmental documentation and issues.
Depending on the area of assignment, responsible for assisting in the planning, staffing, and conducting advance voting locations for each election or executing advance by mail ballot voting for each election; to include coordinating with staffing agencies, reserving facilities, evaluating, hiring and training clerical/poll workers.
Ensures that evidence is audited and retained as required by Georgia Law and SEB Rules and Regulations.
Aids the Elections leadership team with presentations and projects as assigned.
Aids the Elections leadership staff with mail-in ballots, provisional ballots, overseas ballots, and other duties as necessary.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date voter registration data and files and assists the public either by telephone or in person, with voter registration application information and elections information as needed.
Provides public assistance in responding to telephone calls, assists the public with requesting information, responds to questions, and performs manual filing and scanning of voter applications and forms.
Assists other voter registration specialists in interpreting and reading city and county map boundaries for proper precinct locations and assists with mail-in ballots, provisional ballots, overseas ballots, and other duties as necessary.
Performs customer service functions; provides information/assistance regarding elections services, activities, procedures, fees, or other issues; distributes forms/documentation as requested; responds to routine questions or complaints; researches problems/complaints and initiates problem resolution.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with elections within designated timeframes and per established procedures; receives, reviews, records, types, and/or distributes documentation; enters data into computer systems; logs, tracks, or maintains records regarding department activities; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; files, maintains, and stores hardcopy records.
Performs data entry functions by keying data into the computer system; enters, retrieves, reviews or modifies data in the computer database; scans documents into the computer; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; indexes documents; develops databases and computerized reports.
Types/sends e-mail messages; screens incoming e-mail messages.
Aids the Election’s Warehouse regarding voting equipment and election supplies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED required
- Supplemented by three years of administrative or customer service, or clerical experience

- Elections experience
Physical Abilities
- Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds)
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation
- Sensory Requirements Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally
