Job Summary
The Video Production Specialist is a full-time, fiscal year appointment reporting to the AVP of Marketing and Communications. The position supports the marketing and communications needs of the College through video and digital content creation.
Job Duties
- Captures video and audio content for marketing and communications projects
- Operates and maintains mobile and on-site audio/video equipment
- Edits content using post-production techniques and specialized hardware and software
- Digitalizes, catalogs, and stores media content
- Prepares content for various digital formats including websites and social media
- Proofreads and edits content
- Develops scripts and storyboards for productions
- Creates video content aligned with Southwest priorities
- Keeps up to date with best practices, trends, and emerging technologies
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, radio/television, broadcasting, or any field
- Two (2) years of video production experience
- Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
- Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation, and continuity
- Familiarity with special effects, 3D, and compositing
- Creative mind and storytelling skills
- Valid State driver’s license and meets minimum driving standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, radio/television, broadcasting, or any field
- Experience in creating well-structured video files
- Experience in self-managing projects from conception to completion
- Experience working on multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience with Blackmagic Cinema and Canon DSLR cameras
- Knowledge of post-production techniques
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- May be required to work at multiple sites or locations
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to cover events on nights and weekends as needed
- May be required to lift or carry up to 50 lbs
- May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor
- May be required to stand for a prolonged period of time; holding a camera and recording for extended periods
