Job Summary

The Video Production Specialist is a full-time, fiscal year appointment reporting to the AVP of Marketing and Communications. The position supports the marketing and communications needs of the College through video and digital content creation.

Job Duties

  • Captures video and audio content for marketing and communications projects
  • Operates and maintains mobile and on-site audio/video equipment
  • Edits content using post-production techniques and specialized hardware and software
  • Digitalizes, catalogs, and stores media content
  • Prepares content for various digital formats including websites and social media
  • Proofreads and edits content
  • Develops scripts and storyboards for productions
  • Creates video content aligned with Southwest priorities
  • Keeps up to date with best practices, trends, and emerging technologies
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, radio/television, broadcasting, or any field
  • Two (2) years of video production experience
  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
  • Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation, and continuity
  • Familiarity with special effects, 3D, and compositing
  • Creative mind and storytelling skills
  • Valid State driver’s license and meets minimum driving standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, radio/television, broadcasting, or any field
  • Experience in creating well-structured video files
  • Experience in self-managing projects from conception to completion
  • Experience working on multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with Blackmagic Cinema and Canon DSLR cameras
  • Knowledge of post-production techniques

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • May be required to work at multiple sites or locations
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to cover events on nights and weekends as needed
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 50 lbs
  • May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor
  • May be required to stand for a prolonged period of time; holding a camera and recording for extended periods
