About the role
BluePearl Pet Hospital in Oak Creek, WI is hiring experienced Part-time Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. All shifts are available, including weekends and weekdays.
Responsibilities
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
- Triage emergency cases as they arrive, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
- Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including patient positioning.
- Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs (heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) and alert veterinarians to changes or issues.
- Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
- Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
- Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
- Mentor and train other coworkers.
- Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
Qualifications
- Current authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.
