About the Role

Yukon Veterinary Hospital provides a wide range of services from vaccinations and routine medical care to advanced diagnostics and surgery, including complete dental care, weight management consultations, soft tissue surgery, and diagnosis and treatment of internal medicine cases. Our facility features state-of-the-art medical equipment, enabling in-house laboratory diagnostics, digital radiology, and ultrasonography.

This is a part-time position requiring 15–25 hours per week, with availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional morning shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Care, feeding, medicating, and cleaning of patients in the hospital and boarding facility.
  • Perform cleaning, laundry, bathing, feeding, and walking dogs.
  • Administer medications to patients as needed.
  • Restock hospital supplies and assist with post-operative patients.
  • Help doctors and assistants with animal restraint and exams.
  • Maintain proper recordkeeping of medications, special foods, appetite, behavior, and any issues that arise while animals are in our care.
  • Train to clean and sterilize surgical instruments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods.
  • Proper methods of animal restraint.
  • Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
  • Perform moderately heavy physical labor (e.g., handling large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods).
  • Ability to sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared, and injured animals.
  • Ability to learn to administer medications and recognize abnormal conditions.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job.
  • Previous animal handling experience required.
