About the Role
The Treasure Cove Spirit Shop is a vibrant campus store open daily to the Berkeley community, offering branded apparel, gifts, school supplies, and snacks. The shop also operates an e-commerce site and fulfills custom orders for school clubs and departments. As a Part-time Sales Assistant, you will join a bustling retail environment, reporting to the Treasure Cove Manager. This role involves merchandising, billing, guest interactions, and supporting both in-store and online operations. The position requires 20-24 hours per week and follows the school’s academic calendar.
The ideal candidate is customer-focused, flexible, eager to learn, and engaged with the Berkeley community. Retail sales experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise and snacks within the store
- Order, receive, and tag prices on merchandise
- Process in-store and online orders
- Answer customer questions about product location, price, and use
- Assist with designing artwork and products for custom orders
- Operate a heat-press for vinyl transfers
- Perform physical inventories
- Troubleshoot and resolve concerns with students’ snack and school accounts
- Maintain clean and orderly store areas
- Securely close the store at the end of the day
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Treasure Cove Manager
Requirements
- Customer service experience
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as departmental manuals
- Strong communication skills for interacting with colleagues, students, and guests
- Ability to work with minimal supervision under stressful conditions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Lightspeed, 365 Retail Markets, and Cadworx is a plus
Schedule
