Part-Time Transit Operator
About the role
We’re looking for Part-Time Transit Operators to join our Transportation Team! This role is ideal for someone seeking a flexible schedule with fewer weekly hours while still helping keep our community moving.
Responsibilities
- Operate trolleys, buses, and minivans, accommodating passengers with disabilities and adhering to ADA requirements and federal regulations.
- Perform regular safety checks and minor maintenance on vehicles, documenting any defects.
- Drive designated routes according to schedule, prioritizing defensive driving techniques.
- Ensure day-to-day operations comply with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations, state, and city policies.
- Maintain high levels of customer service and communicate effectively with dispatchers and other drivers.
- Accurately record passenger, fuel, and mileage data.
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One year of experience operating passenger transportation vehicles is a plus.
- Valid Driver's License.
Qualifications
- Understand transit operations, basic vehicle maintenance needs, and standard safety practices.
- Communicate clearly, interact well with passengers and community members, and can respond calmly and effectively in a variety of situations.
- Comfortable operating transit vehicles and technology, and can assist all passengers—including passengers who need additional assistance and unescorted children—in a variety of situations and weather conditions.

Pay
The pay for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Routes operate seven days a week, with a variety of morning, afternoon, evening, and late-night shifts available.
Supplemental Information
- Note: Upon employment, you will be expected to attain and maintain a valid CDL license with Passenger Endorsement, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED), and First Aid certifications.
