Opportunities for remote work are rare. Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver\'s license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose. More information on the NAU Authorized Driver Policy can be found on the NAU website. ****About the Department/College**** The Northern Arizona University Facility Services Custodial Department is currently hiring a Part-Time Temp Equipment Mechanic. The Custodial Department\'s goal is to provide a clean, attractive and healthy learning environment. University employees are responsible for maintaining the highest ethical standards of conduct and are expected to practice professionalism, integrity, trustworthiness, respect, stewardship, compliance, confidentiality, and respect to maintain a safe and trusting environment. **About the Position** The Equipment Mechanic position reports to the Custodial Operations Manager and performs maintenance and repair duties to custodial equipment including vacuums, extractors, buffers, burnishers, autoscrubbers, and other custodial equipment. Maintenance and repairs include cord repair, replacing switches, replacing small motors, and other minor equipment repairs. This position also diagnoses complex repairs to be sent to a contractor. The successful candidate will be required to work 4am till 8am - Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be available. **Responsibilities Include** 90% Equipment Maintenance and Repair Performs maintenance and repair duties to custodial equipment including vacuums, extractors, buffers, burnishers, autoscrubbers, and other custodial equipment. Maintenance and repairs include cord repair, replacing switches, replacing small motors, and other minor equipment repairs. Maintains records on equipment repair and maintenance activities. Monitors and maintains equipment replacement parts inventory and requisitions replacement parts. Demonstrates working knowledge of routine work processes and tools. Ensures adherence to established university and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards. Ensures work is done safely and according to state regulations. 10% Other May shovel and remove snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks, and entryways as required. Other duties as assigned. **Minimum Qualifications** High school degree Possession of a current Arizona Type D driver\'s license.\*A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.* **Preferred Qualifications** 1 year of relevant experience **Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities** Knowledge Working knowledge of university specialized equipment maintenance and relevant policies. Basic knowledge in the electrical repair and maintenance of power, switching, and circuit boards on specialized equipment. Basic knowledge of mechanical work including e gine maintenance and repair. Essential Physical Requirements Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Work in an environment having some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. ****Compensation**** Budgeted salary is \$21.00.
