Part-Time Teller

About the Role

The Teller is responsible for performing member banking transactions, providing education on banking services available, and communicating banking products to members. This includes completing deposits, withdrawals, and other financial interactions while providing excellent member service to all members. The role may provide support and coverage to other branches and perform related teller duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Engage members as they enter the branch, manage lobby traffic, check members into the waiting queue, and schedule/cancel appointments.

• Assist members with technology solutions like Online Banking and mobile applications.
• Provide timely responses to member and team member requests.
• Cash checks, disburse funds, and verify signatures and sufficiency of funds.
• Accept deposits and confirm transaction accuracy.
• Prepare, verify, and issue cashier’s checks, bank and personal money orders.
• Enter transactions into the bank’s recordkeeping system and produce member receipts.
• Evaluate checks for endorsements, dates, identification, and legality.
• Balance cash drawers at the end of shifts.
• Accept and count inventories of cash, drafts, and traveler’s checks daily.
• Manage vault access and maintain security of negotiables and confidential records.
• Prepare monies for deposit or shipment and order cash supplies.
• Adhere to security policies, including opening and closing procedures.
• Implement Bank Secrecy Act processes, complete Currency Transaction Reports, and report suspicious activities.
• Complete mandatory compliance testing by deadlines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous cash handling experience required.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in member service, financial services, or similar retail experience preferred.
• Previous experience working directly with the public.
• Flexibility to support other branches based on business needs.

Skills

• Knowledge of Wellby’s organizational functions, policies, and procedures.
• Basic math skills and understanding of bank security measures.
• Ability to detect, address, and prevent fraud.
• Proficiency in business English, spelling, and punctuation.
• Understanding of retail product philosophy, banking best practices, and regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general office equipment.
• High-level member service skills and ability to communicate clearly.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Trustworthiness and integrity.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role requires frequent stationary work (50%), standing for long periods, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. The work environment involves moderate noise levels and typical office risks. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Schedule

Part-time, hourly role with shifts staggered between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. CST, including weekends. Overtime may be required.
