Part Time Teller

About the role

The Bank Teller position at Financial Plus Credit Union (FPCU) is responsible for providing exceptional, high-quality service and delivering products and services through sales efforts. This role requires a team player with a can-do attitude, a high level of integrity, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete deposits, withdrawals, and other financial interactions while providing excellent customer service to all customers.
• Explain, promote, and cross-sell the products and services offered by the Credit Union.
• Balance cash drawer, coin, currency, and checks to source documents and the Reliance totals at the end of each shift.
• Cash checks and disburse funds after verifying signatures and sufficiency of funds to support withdrawals.
• Evaluate checks to verify endorsements, dates, identification of persons receiving payments, bank names, and overall legality of the documents.
• Maintain a work area that ensures the safety of all negotiables and confidential records.
• Follow proper cash handling procedures.
• Be proficient in using the Symitar system.
• Load and unload cash recycler and ATM's (in the Credit Union).
• Examine checks for endorsements and negotiability to determine what, if any, hold is needed.
• Respond to members' requests, problems, and complaints, and/or direct them to the proper person for specific information and assistance.
• Receive information pertaining to member's accounts and route to proper person.
• Give professional, friendly, accurate service to all members.
• Train new hires to perform proper teller duties as listed as above when needed.
• Serve as an example and a back-up to the teller trainer to ensure all new hires are properly trained.
• Enforce compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) requirements, and request legal interpretation as necessary to identify compliance concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to adhere to internal policies as well as external policies and regulations set forth by the NCUA.
• Adaptable to change and embrace SPARK! service standards.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Out of probationary period to apply.
• High School Diploma, GED equivalency, or higher.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and relevant systems.
• Bondable.

• Have at least a $2,500 approval limit or higher.

• Good computer skills and be detail-oriented and thorough on paperwork.
• Able to operate customary office machines such as photocopier, fax, and phone system.
• Able to calculate figures and amounts such as add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Apply logistical reasoning, analytical skills, and professional judgment to define and solve problems with effective and compliant solutions.
• Adaptable, resilient, and comfortable navigating change in a fast-moving environment.
• Embrace innovation and continuously seek better ways to serve members and support teams.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Sedentary work; sitting most of the time.
• May occasionally exert up to 10+ pounds of force.
• The noise level in the work environment is professional and typically moderate.
