About the role
The Sun Prairie YMCA is seeking dedicated and caring swim instructors to join their team. The position involves providing safe and motivating aquatic instruction with an emphasis on member engagement, adhering to the YMCA of Dane County's mission, strategic plan, goals, and policies.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe and motivating aquatic instruction to children under the direction of the Aquatics Director.
- Teach swim lessons at various times including Mondays 4:45pm-7:10pm, Tuesdays 8:45am-10:55am, Thursdays 8:45am-10:35am, and Sundays 11:30am-2:45pm.
- Ensure all swim strokes are covered: front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, and butterfly (preferred).
- Offer high-quality, safe, and motivating instruction based on class descriptions and feedback.
- Possess or obtain within the indicated time frame the following certifications:
- Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid within 30 days of hire.
- Y Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, and Blood Borne Pathogen training required within 60 days of hire.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age.
- Swim Instructor experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong swim skills and basic knowledge of all swim strokes (front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, and butterfly - preferred).
Qualifications
- Must have or obtain within the indicated time frame the following certifications:

Pay
Commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Schedule changes every 7-8 weeks and you do not need to be available for every lesson day, but you will be expected to teach at least 1 morning/evening each session.
