Part-Time Swim Instructor (16+) - Sun Prairie YMCA
About the role
The Sun Prairie YMCA is looking for dedicated, caring swim instructors who enjoy working with children to join our team. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Swim Instructor provides safe and motivating aquatic instruction with an emphasis on member engagement in accordance with the mission, strategic plan, goals and all policies and procedures of the YMCA of Dane County, Inc. and the Y-USA Best Practices.
Responsibilities
- Work for the YMCA of Dane County and receive a free YMCA membership!
- Teach swim lessons at various times:
- Mondays 4:45pm-7:10pm
- Tuesdays 8:45am-10:55am, 4:45pm-7:10pm
- Thursdays 8:45am-10:35am, 4:45pm-6:50pm
- Sundays 11:30am-2:45pm
- Work schedule changes every 7-8 weeks and you do not need to be available for every lesson day, but you will be expected to teach at least 1 morning/evening each session.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age.
- Swim Instructor experience is preferred, but not required.
- Strong swim skills and basic knowledge of all swim strokes: front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke and butterfly (preferred).
- Provides high quality, safe and motivating instruction based on class descriptions and feedback.
- Possess or obtain within the indicated time frame the following certifications and keep all certifications current:
- Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid within 30 days of hire.
- YMCA Orientation.
- Child Abuse Prevention.
- Blood Borne Pathogen training required within 60 days of hire.
