Part-time Student Health Counselor

About the role
We are seeking two part-time (10 months per year) licensed clinical psychologists to serve as Student Health Counselors. This role involves providing clinical supervision of doctoral-level psychology students, crisis intervention, short-term therapy, and case management for graduate and undergraduate students. Candidates should have experience working with diverse identities and clinical supervision. This position reports to the Director of Counseling and is part of the Student Health Employees at the New School (SHENS-UAW) Union, covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention, assessment, short-term individual and group therapy, and case management to university students
- Work with students in crisis and those with trauma histories, including racialized and other identity-related trauma
- Supervise PhD psychology externs and MSW interns
- Connect with collateral contacts including hospitals, community providers, faculty, and staff as appropriate
- Assist with wellness outreach to university students, staff, and faculty
- Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team within Student Health Services, including psychiatry, medical, and public health
- Participate actively in staff meetings and weekly supervision
- Maintain timely, appropriate, and accurate records and correspondence related to students served
- Attend workshops, training seminars, and university meetings as appropriate
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology
- Current licensure to practice in New York State
- Clinical supervision experience
- Some evening hours required
Schedule
This is a 10-month per year, part-time position (fall and spring semesters) with 100% in-person work on campus. Winter break may include opportunities for remote work hours.

$55.44/hour
