Part-Time Student Editorial Intern, Center for Rural Engagement
Improves the lives of Hoosiers through collaborative initiatives that discover and deploy scalable and flexible solutions to common challenges facing rural communities. Working in full-spectrum community innovation through research, community-engaged teaching, and student service, the Center builds vision, harnesses assets, and cultivates sustainable leadership structures within the communities with which it engages to ensure long-term success.
Responsibilities
- Researches and gathers information about featured projects, students, and initiatives through interviews and provided materials.
- Writes compelling articles that highlight successes, personal stories, and impactful projects.
- Collaborates with team members to ensure content aligns with organizational tone and goals.
- Edits and proofreads articles to meet high-quality standards.
- Adheres to deadlines and maintains consistent workflow.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.
- Possesses a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire.
Skills
- Required:
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Comfortable conducting interviews and synthesizing provided information.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Seeks to acquire knowledge in the area of specialty.
- Preferred:
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS).
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment, campus, and community. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation. This position requires working in a provided office on campus and may include some in-state travel.
Pay
$15.00 per hour. Hourly hires are eligible for a $0.50 raise for each academic semester (Fall/Spring) that they continue with the Center in their position.
Schedule
10-15 hours per week depending on the amount of work available.
